Words for Mumia: A Night of Letter Writing & Fundraiser for Prison Radio

On Sunday May 31st Toronto ABC will be working with community partners to host Words for Mumia: A Night of Letter Writing & Fundraiser for Prison Radio.

Prison Radio has been a longtime supporter of Mumia Abu Jamal, and throughout his recent health issues have been covering significant portions of his medical costs. They also put out a weekly radio show discussing various political issues and political prisoners.

On Sunday May 31st, in place of our monthly letter writing night, we will be hosting Artists for Mumia, an evening of poetry, letter writing, love and support for Mumia. We will be asking for donations at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Vegan/veggie snacks will be provided, and child care will be onsite within the common spaces of the event. Child noise is to be expected throughout the entire event.

The event is located at Beit Zatoun, the building is two steps up from street levels, and washrooms are located in the basement. The flight of stairs is steep, with a handrail. A mobile ramp is available for entry into the building, if needed.

Date: Sunday May 31st
Location: Beit Zatoun 612 Markham St (Bathurst and Bloor)
Time: 6pm-9pm
Cost: Suggested $10 donation or PWYC (no one turned away)
